Snide remarks not meant to be in ear's shot
"Obvious" statements still hit their bull's eye
When said no care at all if caught or not
But what is it when one has no allies

Confidence ran high by only a foot
Self esteem burned and only left ashes
Self loathing and despair rise from the soot
And all began with a true friend's bashing

Ignore it, they didn't mean it, did they?
Feelings of betrayal hidden deep inside
Outside though all real feelings kept at bay
And they are none the wiser one has lied

Now one's checkered life adds to the dark tiles
And aren't friend supposed to see through fake smiles
